Responsibilities

  • Responsible for providing medical expertise and consultation for the unit to enhance the provision of high-quality care and efficient utilization of resources consistent with quality clinical practice.
  • Act as an educator and/or consultant for the residents and medical students on clinic rotation.
  • Responsible for monitoring and reviewing patient records and reports assuring quality care and desirable outcomes.
  • Assures that provider coverage and provision of care meets the needs of the patients.
  • Participates in the Unit Collaborative Practice Committee to problem-solve and address issues affecting patient care and outcomes.
  • Reviews unit-specific policies and procedures and participates in the development of updates as indicated.
  • Makes recommendations regarding equipment and supply needs, in collaboration with the Medical Director and the Nurse Manager, for budgetary planning in keeping with technological and clinical advancements.
  • Provides support to the Medical Director in planning a calendar and activities which will provide adequate and appropriate supervision/ coverage for the residents and medical students assigned to the unit.
  • Supports and participates in continuous Quality Improvement (TQM) initiatives
  • Assures compliance with Medical Staff By-Laws/ Rules and Regulations, applicable accrediting body Standards and CAMC Policies and Procedures.

Education

Medical Degree (Required) Education: Board certified in Pediatrics

Completion of Residency in Psychiatry
Completion of Fellowship in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry
Full and unrestricted West Virginia Medical License at the time of employment

Psychiatry Position Opening in PA!

Seeking a psychiatrist to join an existing group for the expansion of a new inpatient facility. The state-of-the-art facility will have an eight-bed adolescent unit, 24 bed adult unit and 12 bed geropsychiatry unit.
 
The group provides inpatient and outpatient psychiatric services to include both adult, child and adolescent services, a robust consultation liaison service for the hospital, a MAT program and medical education. The Department is involved in teaching family practice residents, medical students, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and social work interns. A psychiatric residency program will be initiated once the hospital is built. An ECT program will be added.
 
The psychiatrist will be evaluating and treating a general adult population. Anticipated patient load would be 18-20 patients per day. Weekday call is currently being handled. Weekend call will be estimated to be 1:8. This will involve rounding on the inpatient units and seeing psychiatry consults in the Medical Center.
 
Suboxone certification is preferred but not required. There is a robust multidisciplinary opioid narcotic recovery program using medically assisted treatment. Conceivably, 1/2-day out of the week could be spent treating this population.
 
Board certification and 5 years of experience preferred. New graduates also considered.

Behavioral Health and Psychiatry Residency Program Director Opportunity in Capital City

This Medical Center & Institute for Academic Medicine is seeking a dynamic and experienced Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry residency program director to lead our Psychiatry Residency Program!

  • The Psychiatry Program Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the residency program, including curriculum development, resident supervision, recruitment, and ensuring compliance with accreditation standards.
  • The Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry program is accredited for 6 residents per year and has a rich history of training excellence and service to the community.
  • In addition to the Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry program, we house an APA-accredited clinical psychology internship and a combined Internal Medicine/Psychiatry program with 2 residents per year. The program is designed to train clinically competent psychiatrists who are well-prepared for the practice of psychiatry in private, public, or academic environments.

Qualifications:

  • MD/DO from an accredited medical school.

  • A minimum of three years post-residency experience teaching in an ACGME accredited Psychiatry Program.
